People usually ask me what lens they will buy as their first lens, so I thought to write which one and why is my favorite lens for portrait.
Generalmente me preguntan que lente deberían comprar primero cuando están comenzando con la fotografía, así que pensé en escribir un post sobre cual y porqué es ni lente preferido.
The decision to buy one lens or other involves a lot of factors, what kind of photos do you like to take? what versatility do you need? and last but not least how much is your budget?
La decisión de comprar una lente supone considerar un montón de factores, ¿qué tipo de fotos te gusta sacar? ¿qué versatilidad necesitas? ¿cuánto dinero podes invertir?.
I started my studies in photography during my university years, at that time, we were requested to use a film camera with a fix lens: 50mm, and since then that has become my favorite lens for a lot of reasons. If you are a portrait enthusiast, either with natural light or studio, you need this lens in your camera bag.
Durante mis años universitarios comencé mi camino en la fotografía, en aquel momento, tuvimos que aprender a usar una cámara analógica con un objetivo fijo de 50mm, y desde entonces este ha sido mi lente preferido. Si sos un estudiaste del retrato, ya sea con luz natural o studio, necesitas este objetivo en tu vida.
I love that this lens is the closer to what the human being can see in a normal scene. I like the fact that you need to get closer or further of your subject if you want to vary your shoots. I am a fan of zoom lenses (in fact I think my 24-70mm is the lens I use the most) but I believe if you are starting in photography you need to work with a fix lens to learn how to take the most of it, different perspectives, distances, angles, among others.
Me encanta el hecho que este lente es lo más cercano a la mirada humana en una escena, también el hecho que necesitas moverte más cerca o lejos en la escena para obtener variedad. Soy una fan de los lentes con zoom (de hecho, creo que el objetivo que más uso es el 24-70mm) pero creo que si estás comenzando en fotografía necesitas trabajar primero con una lente fija, aprender como sacar el mayor provecho de la misma descubriendo diferentes perspectivas, distancias, ángulos, etc.
But the thing I love the most is how this lens work is low light situations (indoor, Golden Hour suddenly became a little longer) and the extremely blurry background I am able to get with wide open aperture settings (f 1.8 / f1.4), that background allow me to focus all the attention in the subjects I am photographing.
Pero lo que más me gusta de esté es la capacidad de trabajar en situaciones de bajo luminosidad (interiores, permite alargar la Golden hour) y el bello desenfoque de fondo que consigo con aperturas del diafragma debajo del f2.8, este desenfoque permite enfocar toda la atención en el sujeto que estoy fotografiando.
If you are a Canon user you have the. option to get a good price 50mm lens f1.8 for try if you are not ready to do invest more money in it.
Si sos un usuario de Canon, tenéis la opción de conseguir un 50mm con f1.8 a un precio realmente bueno y ver si estás listo para invertir en la opción más cara.
Tip: until you get use to focus in open aperture use the burst mode to take consecutive shoots so you do not get disappointed if the pics are out of focus when you edit them
Hasta que te acostumbres a enfocar con la apertura baja te recomiendo usar el modo ráfaga y disparar varias fotos a la vez para no desilusionarte luego si están fuera de foco.
