After all these years, having the pleasure photographing newborns and having two myself, I am still amazed with the effect these little ones cause in the world; it feels like time is in pause, everything happens slowly, routines acquire a new meaning and that baby smell.
Después de todos estos años, teniendo el placer de fotografiar recién nacidos, y habiendo tenido dos yo misma, todavía me sorprende el efecto que estos pequeños causan en el mundo; es como si el tiempo se pausara, todo sucede mas despacio, las rutinas adquieren un nuevo significado, y ese olor a bebé.
Newborn photography has always been one of my favorites, I love to see how those tiny feet and hands can bring so much love and emotion into a family... and that is what I want to capture. I do not mind if you did not have time to tidy up the house, I will not judge you. I get you mama, might still do not feel confident in your body and that is ok (and totally normal), be gentle with yourself, you need to cherish it because that bambino you are cuddling now is thanks to your body.
La fotografía de recién nacidos es una de mis favoritas, me encanta ver como esos pequeños piececitos y manitas pueden trae tanto amor y emoción a una familia... y es ese sentimiento el que quiero capturar. No espero que tengas su casa ordenada, no los juzgaré. Y a tí mamá, te entiendo, quizás no hayas recuperado la confianza en ti misma todavía, y es normal, sé amable contigo misma, necesitamos agradecer a nuestro cuerpo porque gracias a él estás meciendo a esa hermosa criatura en tus brazos.
During these first weeks times gain a new dimension, day and night have blurry limits... thanks sleep deprivation, and the tangible proof of it is under your eyes, but, if you do not get at least one image together with your little one you might regret it.... because, they grow so fast and you need a reminder how small he/she was in your arms. You, mama, need to be in the photo, because an image is not just a snap, or a nice visual, photos are a sensory triggering memory caught forever, and when you see it in a decade or two, it will remind you all the beautiful chaos of those days, the smell of your baby head, the song you use to sing for them to sleep, your breast getting filled with golden liquid or your nights preparing those bottles while rocking them.
Durante estas primeras semanas el tiempo adquiere una nueva dimensión, día y noche
comienzan a tener límites borrosos... gracias noches en vela, y la prueba tangible de ello está en las bolsas debajo de los ojos, pero, si no sales en al menos una foto con tu pequeño/a te arrepentirás, porque, crecen muy rápido y es lindo tener un recuerdo de cuan pequeños eran en tus brazos. Tú, mamá, necesitas estar en la foto, porque una imagen no es solo un instantánea, o algo lindo, las fotos son un recuerdo sensorial, y cuando en una década o dos veas esa imagen, te recordará todo el hermoso caos de esos primeros días, el olor de la cabeza de tu bebé, la canción que cantabas para hacerlos dormir, tus pechos llenándose de el líquido dorado o tus noches preparando esos biberones mientras los acunabas con el otro brazo.
The ideal time for this type of photoshoots are between 15 days to 1 month since the baby is born, they still sleep deep and we can get those beautiful images of the peacefully resting, but at the same time they are more aware of their surroundings and I love to capture that too.
